The Black Lips

IN THE YEAR 2000... the band now known as The Black Lips formed with the members Jared Swilley, Cole Alexander, Ben Ederbaugh, and Joe Bradley in Atlanta. Like most teens, The Black Lips wanted their own life, no one wants to be told what to do. So they set out on a mission - they wanted their own music done their way and so Die Slaughterhaus records was born and they released their first 7" in 2002.

But tragedy soon struck when The Black Lips guitarist, Ben Eberbaugh was hit and killed by a drunk driver just days before they were to begin their first tour. Pain stricken by the death of their friend they knew they must continue and realeased their debut full length album, The Black Lips!, in 2003. Just the very next year they put out their second album, We Did Not Know The Forest Spirit Made The Flowers Grow, and picked up guitarist Ian Saint Pé. The lineup for The Black Lips was set, the world was theirs, and they were going to take everything in it.

Building a reputation reminiscent similar to punk bands before them The Black Lips were loud, original, and crazy. Anything could happen at a live show - you could see anything from puke to fireworks to The Black Lips kissing on stage. The Black Lips have not only been kicked out of clubs, but they were even kicked out of india. Not only were The Black Lips building a notrious reputation, they were building a fanbase, and it gets bigger and bigger everyday.

The Black Lips have done what many teenagers want to do, and taken it to the next level. Start a band and go play some shows. But that wasn't enough for The Black Lips and now, not only have they found national success, they've found international success playing shows all over the world. The Black Lips have just recently released their fifth album, 200 Million Thousand, and they show no signs of slowing down or stopping anytime soon.
